Finishing projects

I woke this morning thinking of all the things I need to finish before heading to the shop today for 3pm.  I need to clean my tools, I am a tattoo artist by day, sculptor by night lol. Finish my mosaic finally and get ready to start the next project. I had a request for something Tooth fairyish lol. I am better with people giving me direction but lets see what I come up with. I am thinking after that I will be making a dragon.  It's been sort of crazy working, setting up my room to do clay. I am very visual and need my stuff where I can see it or find it easily so I've got a desk to actually work on the clay, a table for assembly and another for painting. Hummmmm, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a studio by the water......ok, I am drifting here! Thanks to everyone who has been stopping in here to see what is going on and have a great day today!

Percy has finally arrived!

Earlier I posted pictures of Percivel being made and now have treated him to color! I used a burnt sienna base and dry brushed colors on after to give him that nice dimensional look that makes him look so handsome! You can see in the first picture all that was really done are his wings and feathers. The rest of the pictures show him completed with his wings attached.  I am really happy with the way he turned out. He's such a handsome guy!!

Percivel

I was so excited to get this little guy started. This baby griffin is a design by Sally Golubosky who I think does such a wonderful job, so I wanted to try one myself!
Percy sits about 3 1/2" from the tile to the top of his head and is approx. 4" long. He's hand sculpted and each feather is hand made then placed on his little body. He's made of super sculpey and is almost ready for the final stage. He will be baked to make him strong, then hand painted to give him color. Percy will also have a set of wings with feathers! He's going to be such a big boy. I love working with clay and the detail that you can incorporate to give your sculptures that one of a kind look. Will be sure to post pictures of this little guys once he is finished!

Miss Tildie has arrived!

I finally finished Ms. Tildie. She's my first so lots of learning going on here but we had a great time and she's already developed an attitude with me!
She loves being outside but it's not really safe with the neighborhood cats running around...oh well it's safe for her but those poor cats would be tormented!
You can see where I attempted to take her picture and she turned away! lol I guess if she can't see me I can't see her? lol She's content right now guarding my husbands radios....I just hope she doesn't learn how to play with them. OH NO!!!TILDIE.....gotta go~

Polymer Poppets and Life

I have always dreamed of having a job that I loved and creating things that people would want to have. I have in the past year become a tattoo artist which is probably unheard of at my age but oh well! I get to draw designs and apply those pieces of work to someone's skin, an art form in itself! Although I love my job thus one dream coming true I still felt like there was something that I wanted to do. I LOVE polymer clay and love creating with it. I started working with Polymer Clay in 2003 and did a lot of little critters that sold via internet, local shops etc. but life began to take over and I put the clay away. I recently picked it back up and am working on my sculpting skills again. It's rather like riding a bike, once you've done it, it's just a matter of brushing up and getting back on so to speak. I have been inspired over the years by Christi Friesen who does a lot of the whimsical type clay that I like, recently I came across a book by Laurie Mika with her polymer tile mosaics that just took my breath away, I had never considered the collage effect that I so love could be accomplished with clay tiles duh!!!! Then while on Christi's yahoo group CF Originals I viewed an album by Kudzu's Whimsy and fell in love. Sally Golubosky's Dragons are just wonderful and am looking forward to her class that I ordered online for the tips and techniques she uses so that I can create my own Dragons! I will promise to make a strong effort to keep this blog up since I seem to be a bit ADHD and tend to forget that it needs updated, I thought that was what my little work fairy was for!! Peace to all!
